My favourite part of the day is our daily TechOps Huddle meeting, which is in the afternoon for me in the UK. This is a short meeting for the whole TechOps team across all of our time zones to just run through any outstanding tickets we have, as well as just allowing us to catch-up and chat as a team.
We’re a close-knit TechOps team, constantly communicating through our dedicated Slack channel and daily Huddle. This helps us resolve tickets and incidents quickly and efficiently. We often collaborate with other departments to either find the best solutions on current incidents, or we are reaching out to resolve any tickets affecting them directly.
I think challenges are a natural part of being in TechOps so myself and my team are always encountering them - a day without them would be unusual! These challenges are usually in the form of tickets or incidents, maybe something we haven’t encountered before. What helps overcome this is a willingness to always learn from the challenges when we have them, as well as sharing or reaching out to the team if needed.
I think problem-solving and adaptability are essential in TechOps. We need to think critically and creatively to handle the wide range of tickets we receive. As well as the ability to communicate effectively with both our team and other departments. I’ve been fortunate that my role at INSHUR has provided a fantastic environment to develop these skills. We have a strong culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team, with opportunities to work together and learn from each other.
I’m really proud of how smooth the roll out for the new Google Meet hardware and TVs in the Brighton office went. It was my first project I led on my own, and the transition went great. It’s amazing to think I’m already coming up on my two-year anniversary at INSHUR - time has flown by!
